Restart scan when changing and saving settings

I am assuming when first opening the program it starts a scan and then if you select to modify settings it just pauses the scan then after saving the settings it un-pauses the scan and you are not scanning with the saved settings.
So in order to scan with the new settings you have to close and open the program to start the scan with the settings you selected.
Would this be the way it works?
If that is the way it does work which it seems it is, Why not have it start a new scan after saving the settings using the new settings you selected?

If you open Settings during a scan, the scan is aborted (not paused). This is in case user changes any settings that are affecting the scan. When Settings is closed, a new scan is started, using the current user settings.

It is implemented like this, because it is the most simple way to implement it. Simple usually means less risk for bugs.

jv16 You sure about that? I open Uninstalr 3.2 and it starts scanning, I then go to setting and change a setting and hit Save and the window closes and I get the popup saying Please restart the program to apply the changes and Uninstalr is closed automatically.
Then I reopen Uninstalr 3.2 and it will scan with settings I saved prior session.

This is how it works if you change a setting that requires a restart. Me previous reply was referring to change of settings that do not require a restart.
